Feelings # 2

When you have to leave your loved ones and go far off, to unknown place, live among strangers. You have to make friends with those strangers inorder to survive.
Yes, I know, unless you leave a place, you cannot get to know a new place. Unless you get out of your comfort zone, you cannot make another comfort zone. Unless you take risks, you donot know your edge, your true potential. And unless you fall in situations where you have no option but share thoughts with strangers, you cant make new friends. I know this.
But the feeling when you miss those loving gesture of your loved ones, when you get a cold reaction from the new people, when you find yourself all alone, when tears roll down your eyes uncontrollably in the crowd, when you wish you could run back to the one who loves you.
Yes, within a few days you adjust, you make new friends, you laugh, you share thoughts, you mix up and you get to know more of yourself. Yes, you adapt.
Yes, not the strong or the intelligent, but the one who can adapt to any situation finally survives on this earth. I know.
But that pain in your heart and those non stop flow of tears, only the one, who has been in that situation and felt it, knows how it feels. Its painful.

12. Sagittarius love!

These are a few lines on a Sagittarius female, i found somewhere and they are so true....
  • Each time she loves, she believes with all her heart that this must be the first time two people ever felt such wonder.
  • Not that she takes love lightly, no matter how many love affairs she might have wandered through with those naïve, trusting eyes, so wide open, yet so blind to the realities of human nature.
  • She sincerely wants love to be real and forever – after, as in the fairy tales she used to read, each time she stumbles over a romantic adventure.
  • She loves, she trusts, she believes, she tries with all her fiery idealism and determinatoon, then falls into heartbreak with no net to catch her, because sag would rather gamble on happiness than be burdened with excessive insurance or assurance.

11. TEMPLE FOR FOOD

(For all the non Delhiites, who has no family in Delhi, craving for home made food, specially big pieces of fish and gravy and tasty mutton, home made style, this is for you)

Many many years ago, in Delhi...

I don’t get food in my PG, not even a single meal. I survived on dabbawalahs all these months and street food like momos, chaats, bread omelettes and expensive restaurants on weekends, but that food style lead me to hospital, I had dengue and typhoid simultaneously and was hospitalised for 11days and took long unpaid leaves before and after hospitalising. I had to take antibiotics every 4hours else I would shiver severely and I was almost sure I wouldn’t survive. And all I wanted from God at that time was to become normal again. That was a terror phase of my life. I had to return home and be another terror for my family.

Now I am back in Delhi and in the same hostel without food. So what do I do?

Of course, I don't take dabbas (tiffin meal) again. I somehow pleaded the landowner, by all possible ways (emotional blackmail, threat, stern, sad, polite, sweet) ways and finally he was convinced that I should be allowed to cook in his kitchen (a kitchen provided for the caretaker and his family) for at least a month or he would go to hell after death and burn in fire for not helping this poor little girl.

Ok, I cooked for a month and quite a lavish cooking it was……….I dedicatedly dedicated almost one and a half hour in the kitchen everyday and cooked for the day and I really made some yummy recipes. But after one month the villain in my happy movie entered, the uncivilized, uneducated, heartless, damn caretaker. He was in his ‘des’ (village) all these months. In the absence of the landowner, he was the self proclaimed owner of the place. The landowner lived away from this place, so he had hired this caretaker since like over 20years. The ‘paying guest’ building , which was originally a mini hospital, was three storied, and all the rooms in all the floors were rented as ‘pg’ including the ground floor which had two rooms for rent and one room where the caretaker and his family lived. And this caretaker behaved as if he owned the whole ground floor, right from the entry gate, small verandah, tv area, sofas, fridge (2 of them), the backyard, the old but ‘still working’ washing machine and the kitchen. So seeing me in his territory, in his kitchen, he was all fuming. I lived in a single seater in the ground floor. I could literally feel some hot air around me when he passed by ....!

So he stopped my cooking the day it turned one month. I had a heated argument with him. Allowing me to use the kitchen for max. 2 hours in a day, would have done him no harm. (I brought my own vegetables, my own masalas, salt, even my own utensils. And didnt take more than two hours to cook). But he was adamant.

So after a few hours of cursing him and crying over my destiny, I looked out for more options. Necessity is the mother of invention, I found out a place, a temple that provided food (breakfast / lunch/ dinner) for the people who stayed in the guest houses in the temple premises. The food is good, it’s like a hostel mess, a big dining hall with plastic tables and chairs, no ac, many doors and windows with abundant cross ventilation and overlooking well mowed, trimmed, green turfs. The kitchen was adjoining the hall and could be accesed and seen from the hall. So what, who, how cooking is done, was visible. And the kitchen was quite clean and the temple effect/feel had made it cleaner, I suppose. Anyways, my mind worked at its fastest pace to plan out how to make it a success. I turned to my room mate with the idea. My roomie was a clean and sweet girl, (clean - the way Meryl Streep described her husband in ‘the bridges of madison county’). She was the 'mummy papa’s dear, nice daughter type girl' in this 21st century. Pure vegetarian, helpful, wore salwar suit, with the duppatta serving its purpose always, no make up, not even kajal, no hairstyle, rough hair with a thick plait. She is the sweetest girl I had met in this century and meeting her made me believe that God was sometimes good to me. She never see, hear, and say bad things, words and always on ‘may I help you?’ mode. I found her so sweet. But, never imagined, she could also be a,…eh.. problem?? Yes, she was a vegetarian and the temple mess served non veg food also. So she assumed they made the food in the same utensils and she would die hungry than eating food made of the utensils where non veg food was also cooked. Now my next mission was how to convince her that this was a myth.
I told her, "lets go and ask them straight if they make everything in the same utensils and clear the problem."
She agreed. (She also didn’t like the dabba food )
We asked and she actually went inside the kitchen and investigated and came out, much to my relief, knowing that no, they prepared both veg and non veg in different utensils. So she agreed to go with me to dinner in the mandir. Well, you must be wondering why do I need a company to go there. Well, it being a guest house, the crowd wasnt that good and they serve dinner at 9pm, which is the tym no good for a girl to walk alone in the streets and then to a place where theres men and men all around (although it’s a temple it’s a temple in DELHI after all.)

The food was good.

The menu is in a meal, a thali, they serve:

Rice (there's second serving, if you are new else you have to keep on shouting and they mite not attend)

Dal (there's second serving, if you are new and pretty and smiled when he served at the beginning)

one sabji (a seasonal vegetable mixed sabji)

fish curry(one BIG fish piece that will bring a smile to your face, generally rohu but it keeps on changing and not thick gravy, its more homestyle)

or mutton on Sunday dinner (min 3 pieces of mutton, and not thick gravy, homestyle) you need to go early and be among the first few eaters else it gets finished.

Tuesdays vegetarian. And sometimes egg thali.

Otherwise this is the menu of lunch, dinner for the entire week. And per fish thali is 60 rupees and mutton thali is 90 rupees.

Since we became regular visitors, I made a deal with the cashier, who seems to be the manager. We used to have sabji and two or three rotis, as that was enough for dinner. So, we saved a few bucks and they were also pretty cool with the deal.

Sabji was charged 30 rupees and 3 rupees per chapati. We were happy with the 36rupees deal as the food was fresh cooked, hygienic and served hot.

So, basically for you people who are away from home and craving for home made simple food on a daily basis in delhi, this is a good destination I would say. There were loop holes ofcourse but you have to deal with it, nothing is perfect. Loop holes like you speak sweetly and nicely to the boys who serve you food at the beginning and they become the nightmare later, they would keep on staring at you from a distant while you are eating, you would bump into them in the market or other local shops since you stay in the same locality. But staying in delhi teaches you how to deal with all these, don’t worry. So I would suggest better go in a group of atleast two or speak in bengali to them, it actually helps!

N.B: And to know the further details you can contact me.

It was something like this,
yep both, the meal and the smile!

10. Do you think the same?

Life is a journey. Like in a train journey, we start our journey from a station and we have a destination station. If you are travelling alone, you have a seat, and you pass through many stations, the train stops in some while in others it doesn’t, you pass through tunnels, bridges, see sceneries, mountains, valleys, rain, storm, animals, birds etc etc. many different type of people come and go, some sit, smiles at you, some busy in their own world, you talk to some , you don’t to some. Then many incidents, good , bad , unwanted, pleasant, funny, heart touching, irritating happens, you remmeber some at the end of the journey, you learn some truths from a few and forgets the rest.Isnt our life looks the same?

Nice. But just think, if you are travelling with a person, who is with you all the time, from the start, witnessing all the incidents, witnesses, sceneries together, seen things, learnt from them , ate those food from the stations, hold hands when you passed through that dark tunnel, talked just anyhting to give each other company, when both were awake at night and the rest of the passengers were all asleep, went to sit near the steps to get some fresh air and feel the thrill of the strong wind on your face, tried to figure out together if the person sitting infront is actually sweet or is a thug, a person to whom you can say you feel like having tea at a certain station when it is 3am and he agrees to join you in that, for whom you feel like getting down the train and run to the stall and buy something that he/she likes and gets back just on time and see him/her waiting for you, only you, impatiently with almost tears on eyes. And requests you with those eyes to never repeat that risk again and you enjoying the whole episode, the thrill, the eyes, the moment, and feeling like repeating again and again, you get up in the morning and the first thing that comes to your mind is that someone is travelling with you, and look for that person, and think about the next thing to do, only after you see him/her where he/she is suppose to be, and many more, and after you finish your journey, you have someone to recollect the memories you two had together during the journey. Isnt the journey more beautiful that way?

9. HOPE

i always wake up to a new day, a new hope, a new sunshine.
maybe because i havent got you, keep my hope alive,
if i exist, i m sure you also do,
and with that hope in mind, i am always on the go.
i wake up everyday and wish for you,
i snooze that alarm, to dream of you,
if i exist, i m sure you also do,
and with that hope, i am always on the go!
the real world hurts at times,
its so cruel at times,
but when i see the truth in your eyes,
the world seems beautiful and nice,
i wish i could embrace you tight,
and talk to you whole night,
wish i could leave no scope for tears,
and make you smile whole life,
i know you are there
if i exist, i m sure you also do.
and with that hope i am always on the go!
i am here on earth to be with you,
and together we can laugh and live and grow,
i find no meaning of this world without you,
i feel incomplete without you.
i fail, i perspire, i cry,
but always wake up to a new day, a new hope , a new sunshine.
maybe because i havent got you, keep my hope alive,
and if i exist, i m sure you also do,
and with that hope in mind, i am always on the go!
the day i will get you, i dont know the feeling,
but i know i will live, breathe and will be complete!

8. Daddy's little girl

When i managed to escape from being hit by the huge bus in the nick of time,

when i managed to get through when it was all deserted and dark,

when i managed to shift from there to here, all alone,

when i saw hope through the moist vision,

when i was accepted,

when i made a fool of myself and still dared to move on,

i doubted myself, i doubted whats behind.

but today,

when i saw the broken toothed beggar in disguise,

staring and smiling at me, from across the road,

a thunder went thru my vine,

and i realised,

it was YOU behind,

holding and protecting me all the while.

i feel blessed, i feel safe,

i feel happy to be daddy's little girl again.

7. My mane

(Excerpt, I got in some trash, it was so innocent, and so me, I wrote 100years back)

Today, I was thinking….can we keep a horse as a pet? Yeah, we need to have a big ground for that, in today’s condominiums, it is not possible. I need to have a house in some outskirts, I suppose. But it will be so much fun. I will give the horse a lot of love when I am home, it will start recognizing me, every living being react to love, a dog does , so will the horse. Will feed it good food, and actually love it a lot. I need to manage my job also. And I wish to travel all over the world in a light fluorescent green convertible car with my partner. So I have planned whatever vacation I get during my job life, I will go and travel the world. See different people, meet different people, it will be so great. So where will I keep my horse then? I can’t take him along. Hmmm, maybe I will keep him in some horse farm (whatever it is called, place where they keep horse), give the horse a lot of love when I am home, it will start recognizing me, Then when I am on vacation in my convertible car, I will keep it in the horse farm. It will be a little sad. But I have no other option. Then when I will return and go to that horse farm to take it back…it will shout, scream, gallop in joy bcoz it will recognize me…wow! My love will grow more for it. I can feel the attachment even now. Oh, I hope, I get a husband who loves doing all these. I can manage doing all these, but it will be great if somebody is with you. Life becomes always a bit more beautiful and comfortable when we get a company. Like, a group submission is much fun than an individual submission. hai naa? If you remember your student days, you actually remember the group submissions (the good one or even the fights), I don’t have good memories of the serious studies I did alone. And I don’t want to remember even, they were so boring and tiring. But in this case, the group shouldn’t have more than two members.(PJ) Hmmm….let’s see, what happens.
Then I will find a mate for the horse. They will have kids. Will make a bigger stable for them. Lovely family. My kids will also grow up playing with them, riding them, feeding them.
And when we will grow old (me and my husband), we will have the horse, in our country house, his golden hair, his gallop…and we will go out for rides , from time to time, to the nearby market…..or to the woods, no petrol problem, no ‘car broke down’ problem. And when we will grow too old, we will just sit on his back and it will take us to places. Our ever loyal and loving sweetheart, mane (see I have given it a name also!). I love you, my Mane!
